Grant writing is the practice of completing an application process for a financial grant provided by an institution such as a government department, corporation, foundation or trust. Successful grant writing requires a clear understanding of grantsmanship. While the principles and fundamentals of grantsmanship apply broadly, it is important to know the target and to be able to tune the language appropriately. Understanding the creation process of a grant proposal is a big part of the success in grant writing.

Sirens collaborates with grant writers from across the world with unique backgrounds in various professions. Many of our grant writers are inactive former Peace Corps Volunteers who spent many years writing and applying to government funded grants. We also work with women in rural areas who specialize in grant writing for private fund raising.

In 2014, founder Seville Michelle began her work with The Remix Project, a 501C3 based in Toronto that had big dreams of opening their first facility in the United States. The music-based academy had very humble beginnings, and started in 2002. A then little known artist by the name of Drake walked into the organization to record his first mixtape. The Remix Project believes that giving musical opportunities to youth from the inner city can counter street violence, and uplift and empower through music education. Drake has since gone quadruple platinum. Seville worked directly with the co-founder of The Remix Project, who is also the long-standing Chief Financial Officer of OVO Sound record label.

Seville secured the money the organization needed to open their location in Chicago, Illinois, and enough money to operate the organization for 3 years. Since opening its doors in Chicago, Remix has provided 60 kids with an education in music. Seville also brokered deals with NBA Cares, and partnerships with many other cooperations on behalf of the organization. She also developed their programming and brought in industry leaders from the art and entertainment world.

The Gentle Hive Bee Foundation's mission is to protect bees from extinction and return them to thriving by researching and promoting commercial friendly beekeeping techniques that are nonharmful to bees and their environments. By setting a new standard for bee keeping using the simple techniques that bee keepers applied decades ago. The foundation is developing educational guidelines that outline and implement non-chemical alternatives to commercial beekeeping.

Sirens is working with founder and bee keeper, Shane Lee and his partner, farmer, Clarence Baber to write and apply for private equity funding.
